Dear tlr i have just read the slp and had it confirmed on millwall clubcall that billy bonds is considering his future at the den. in my opinion it would be millwall's loss if bonds leaves. he has taken over the management of the club at the most difficult time in our history. picking up the mess left by mccarthy and nicholl, after raising what he could by selling the wasters he could get money for he was left with no more than half a million to rebuild with. kenny brown, brian law and paul allen were considered good signings at the time, and you can't really question paul allen's commitment, although we signed him two years too late as far as his age is concerned. as can be said of andy gray. shaw and grant will get even better in a more confident team, and as for cook and ryan, only time will tell. bonds has not been helped by the likes of savage, who can't manage more than three games on the trot without injury - we should sell him as soon as an offer comes in. players like wilkinson, sturgess and veart were a mistake, although there's even a question mark whether bonds even wanted veart at all. he's showed no interest in any of the games he's played in so far. after reading bobby bowry's twenty questions in tlr 96, he says the reason he thinks the players are performing so badly is because of a lack of effort by the team as if we didn't already know ; . obviously there must be some sort of lack of confidence, but that shouldn't stop the players trying hard to make up for it. the players should all sit down with bonds and talk over the problems, then get on with playing for millwall, or go and ponce off someone else. if bonds was to leave who could come in and do anything different? there's no money available for transfers, we would be back to square one. give bonds the chance to finish the job and get rid of anyone who doesn't want to play. you can't pick and choose what manager you want to play for, the club and supporters must come first. it's been yet another frustrating season, but with a lot more effort from the players, and continued support from the fans, which i still think is good considering the performances at home, bonds can still lead us in the right direction. the board must also stand up and be counted. they should start by slashing ticket prices for the rest of the season. six pounds an adult for the east and south stands, and kids a quid would be a great start. attendances are only going to get lower with the season all but over now. t thorpe se28 dear tlr having reduced my attendance of millwall matches to a mere handful this season, i don't seem to have missed that much, as the same crap football is served up week after week, season after season. but as i write this, i thinking of going to the home match against northampton, though why god only knows? the last time i went to a millwall home match, two little kids sitting behind me, used and play craps online.
If this had happened a couple of years ago, before eric had the unique experience of having an elven knight appear in his apartment and scare the crap out of him, been worshipped by nightflyers, chased by unseleighe elves and become a bard, he probably would have put an eric-shaped hole in the door on his way out. by now though, he had seen so many arcane and outr critters that having a monster staring at him from his fire escape, wanting to come into his apartment, was not going to frighten him. it was a surprise, even something of a shock, but it didn't frighten him. if it had happened the last time he was in the world above he might still have come at it with either a baseball bat or a sword. he hadn't known how to protect himself, not really, and his grasp of magic had been rudimentary at best. he had tended to assume that anything he didn't already recognize--or which hadn't been properly introduced by someone or something he already knew--was dangerous. and that wasn't an unreasonable way to operate, given all he'd been through. paranoia was not a bad thing, in the appropriate degree. but that was then. now he had the responsibility that magical ability brought. he didn't act without thinking. he observed and thought before he did something. he had enough power and the control over it to protect himself for a limited time against almost anything. and he had the ability to call reinforcements quickly, which was even more important. all these factors gave him a level of calm he wouldn't have had before, but his time underhill had made some deep-laid changes in eric's psyche, had made him realize that his mind could work faster than his body, and that there generally was time to take in and process information before doing something, because acting without thought usually led to doing something that might prove to be very stupid. so he had taken in a lot of information with his first glance at the visitor outside his window. it wasn't as large as shock had first made it appear; only half the size of a human, though that didn't mean it couldn't be.

Patton ignored the remark. but later that day, when they were riding in his command car, a rabbit shot out of a clump of brush and crossed the road in front of them. as smooth as a movie gunslinger, patton drew his .45 and dropped the bunny on the run. without a word, he picked up the conversation where it had stopped a moment before. in december, 1945, patton was on his way to a pheasant hunt when his command car collided with a jeep and overturned. the general was rushed to the hospital with a broken neck. it was a serious injury for a 60-year-old man, and the doctors didn't have much hope for him. but his recuperative powers amazed them. "he's got the heart and circulatory system of a twenty-yearold, " one surgeon marveled. within a week, he had mended so well that he was taken out of traction and put in a plaster cast. preparations were made to fly him home for christmas. but, unexpectedly, pneumonia set in, and five days later george s. patton jr. died in his sleep. as death closed in, patton must have been cursing, as only he could curse, the cruel humor of the fates. they had sustained him through battles, through gunshot, shrapnel and fire, only to turn him finally into a helpless invalid in the antiseptic environment of a hospital, with nurses and orderlies humiliating him with bed pans, feeding tubes and needles jabbed in his leathery rump; and where he would wheeze out his life like any old gentleman with his family grieving at the bedside. it was hardly the gallant end he had pictured for himself. once, after he had been relieved of command in sicily, patton had visited general mark clark in italy. wistfully, he had asked clark if he might go up to the front at cassino, one of the major allied stumbling blocks of the entire war. clark said "sure" and lent him his staff car and chauffeur. patton arrived at the front just as the germans defending the abbey were opening up one of their "saturation" mortar barrages. while officers groaned and hid their eyes, patton strolled calmly through the black blossoms of smoke and fire, inspecting the hilltop fortress from all angles. later, when clark reprimanded him for risking his neck without any purpose--he had no business or responsibility on the line--he looked deeply troubled. "i want to die in battle, " he said. "and now it looks like i may never get another chance." a great deal has been written in retrospect about general george s. patton. opinions vary. some consider him an unparalleled military genius; others rate him merely as a crap player who made a dozen straight passes. ". . . man who demanded the impossible from his troops and got it sometimes." ". . . the kind of reckless tactics that win battles--and can lose wars." ". . . best field general to come out of the war." ". . . not so much a good sculptor as a good cutting tool." he was a fierce inspiration to many; many hated him. patton's evaluation of himself was simple: "general grant used to say that there was a time in every battle when both leaders think they are defeated; that the man who persists wins it. i persist." patton was laid to rest along the famous route his third army carved through france in the memorable days of 1945. many epitaphs have been written for him, but there is one with which neither his critics nor his admirers will disagree: "he loved a good soldier and a good fight.

C. a circuit-level firewall d. a stateful-inspection firewall answer: d a stateful-inspection firewall intercepts incoming packets at the network level, then uses an inspection engine to extract state-related information from upper layers. it maintains the information in a dynamic state table and evaluates subsequent connection attempts. answer a, packet-filtering firewall, is the simplest type of firewall commonly implemented on routers. it operates at the network layer and offers good performance but is the least secure. answer b, application-level firewall or application-layer gateway, is more secure because it examines the packet at the application layer, but at the expense of performance. answer c, circuit-level firewall, is similar to the application-level firewall in that it functions as a proxy server, but differs in that special proxy application software is not needed. sources: hacker proof by lars klander jamsa press, 1997 ; and checkpoint firewall-1 stateful inspection technology checkpoint ; . 25. which attack type below does not exploit tcp vulnerabilities? a. sequence number attack b. syn attack c. ping of death d. land.c attack answer: c the ping of death exploits the fragmentation vulnerability of large icmp echo request packets by sending an illegal packet with more than 65k of data, creating a buffer overflow. answer a is a tcp sequence number attack, which exploits the nonrandom predictable pattern of tcp connection sequence numbers to spoof a session. answer b, a tcp syn attack, is a dos attack that exploits the tcp threeway handshake. the attacker rapidly generates randomly sourced syn packets filling the target's connection queue before the connection can timeout. answer d, land.c attack, is also a dos attack that exploits tcp syn packets. the attacker sends a packet that gives both the source and destination as the target's address, and uses the same source and destination port. sources: designing network security by merike kaeo cisco press, 1999 ; and mastering network security by chris brenton sybex, 1999 ; . 26. which utility below can create a server-spoofing attack? a. dns poisoning b. c2myazz and playing craps.

State in terms of two kinds of charges and their anticharges ; : windings of the elementary string ns1 ; and momentum p ; . we will call such states `2-charge' states, and have found that the entropy of 2-charge states grows as s e. the string has only left excitations but no right excitations then we get extremal an ns1-p state. the entropy is given by setting np 0 in 2.4 ; , so we have s 2 can use dualities to map this system to other forms. for example, we can get d0-d4-- bound states of n0 n1 branes and n4 np d4 branes. a further t-duality along a direction in the d4 gives d1d3, where the n1 d1 branes are perpendicular to the n3 d3 branes. we depict this in figure 3. note that each d1 brane gets `broken up' into n3 pieces. thus there are n1 n3 fractional d1 branes, and their different positions give n1 n3 moduli in a classical description of the branes. quantizing the wavefunctions on this moduli space will again give the 2-charge entropy s 2 2.2. three charges can we get an entropy that grows with energy faster than s e? let us recall the microscopic description of 3-charge black holes. consider type iib string theory, and let there be five compact directions, which we write as t 4 m9, 1 m4, 1 t 4 s 2.9 ; we will wrap branes on the compact directions, and obtain an object that is a black hole in the in 4 + noncompact directions. the black hole in [7] was made with charges d1d5p, but since we started with the elementary string above we dualize this to get ns1ns5p. the ns1 branes are wrapped on s 1 , the ns5 branes wrap t 4 s and the momentum p runs along s 1 . the entropy is [7] 2.10 ; s 2 n1 let the mass of a brane of type i be mi then the energy of the extremal system is just given by adding the masses of the branes e n1 m1 since the energy of the system is linear in the numbers of branes ni , we find s e2. thus the 3-charge entropy grows faster with energy than the 2-charge entropy 2.7.

Information technology has provided unique opportunities and possibilities as it has evolved through its most recent strategic eras from mainframe to client server, with vast enterprise systems to electronic commerce, with its real time connectivity made possible by the internet. a companys current it strategy is a deliberate decision about which strategic era it chooses to play in. a companys application strategy reconciles how they will merge the old with the new whether operating legacy systems as they are, or whether they are to become electronic commerce-enabled or e-enabled. technology leaders or innovators choose the daring journey into the stratosphere where no company has journeyed before defining the cutting edge in their wake. quick adopters follow quickly behind the leaders, adopting technology approaches as quickly as they are shown to be effective. late adopters wait until a technology is well proven before proceeding with an implementation. non-adopters the stragglers wait for a technology to become industry standard before proceeding with implementation. information technology initiatives may simply focus on integrating the company internally whether unifying the systems within a division, or among divisions. executives may choose to outsource particular applications, functions or processes to catapult to a level of technical competence without building the infrastructure from scratch. or executives may work from a base of internal integration to participate in cross-enterprise connectivity whether internet-, intranet- or extranet-based enjoying the full promise of electronic commerce connectivity across the entire value chain and how to win at craps.
16 blocks warner home video say what you want, about bruce willis, he usually delivers the goods, as he does in 16 blocks, directed by richard donner. grey haired, fat, limping from one drink to the next his character, jack mosley, is a mess when he draws the assignment to get a witness to the grand jury by 10am. mos def plays the witness, eddie bunker, and rather nicely, once you get past his irritating voice, which you do. eddie has the goods on some corrupt cops who think life would be better if he were dead and mosley has a reason to live, keeping eddie alive, despite the best efforts of his former partner played to the hilt by david morse. while not quite a remake, this one owes a bunch to clint eastwoods' "the gauntlet" but it's a way better film. by the way, the alternative ending isn't. i mean it was the original ending but lacked the 'warm fuzzies' studios like so much, so be sure to check it out. the director and writers commentary is very worth a look as well. lee crawford agatha christie's the pale horse koch vision this is based on one of christie's stand alone books, and is set in the sixties, however the story is pretty timeless. an artist is under suspicion of murder and as a result has a vested interest in finding the real killer. the victims are dying under what appear to be natural causes, but are actually a poison that is hard to detect. it's a wonderful tale with some nice twists. i also really enjoy the police in this, one of the detectives is rather stuck in his old school ways, and the younger of the two is a little more open minded. the cast was great, including hermione norris, and colin buchanan, they really played their roles to perfection. i also thought the directing was spot on, in particular was one scene in which the younger detective meets the suspect for a drink, it looked like a scene tarantino would direct. i would recommend this to all mystery fans, in particular fans of the british mystery. it's traditional, but still fresh and engaging. jon jordan black hawk down extended cut ; sony home video "brilliantly funny!" "tom sizemore and orlando bloom are the best comedy duo since hope & crosby! what a team!" are phrases you will not hear in describing black hawk down. phrases you will hear include: "holy sh * monkeys, was that f * ing intense." and "man! i nearly wet my pants!" and possibly "how did tom sizemore stay clean & or sober that long!?" i am, of course, kidding. he didn't stay sober. ha! i kidding again! tom and i like to kid each other! the editors would like to note any opinions expressed here are solely the opinion of randy otteson, and not the editors. we wish to avoid being sued or in case we meet mr. sizemore at a party, we don't want him to kick the crap out of us. p.s. we are pretty sure randy doesn't know mr. sizemore ; . based on the true story of when in the early 90's the united states tried to kidnap the higher ups of a vicious war lord who was starving the people of mogadishu. the mission has a few glitches and the troops that were only suppose to be in the "hot zone" for 30 minutes end up having to stay there for a full day and night. the "glitches" being the shooting down of two black hawk helicopters and the subsequent rescue attempts. director ridley scott gladiator, alien ; masterfully puts you in the middle of the battle and you find out what is like to be in hour non-stop firefight from all sides, bullets flying from every direction from men, women and children as well. if you have.
And paavo could clearly snap someone's neck like a twig in the time it would take him to say, "bamm! bamm!" besides a common fondness for the wrong sorts of drinks, we were bonded together by something else. paavo needed someone patient to help him with his english, someone unafraid enough to tell him when he was talking like the incredible hulk. and me? i wasn't content to merely get through graduate school with moderate combat skills. i wanted to be the best. and i wouldn't feel that way until i could beat the crap out of paavo vihavainen. so every saturday, no matter how much i had to get done before monday, paavo and i would meet in a field in picnic area in the rural outskirts of urbana. we'd talk to each other in english for about two hours, until paavo stood up, stretched his arms over his head, and said, "that's enough." then i would spring up and attack him. and he would kick my ass. i'd like to end this by telling you about how, on the night before my thesis defense, i finally won a fight with paavo vihavainen. but this is my real life, which doesn't always go the way i think it should. i defended my thesis with a huge black eye and sprained rib. and an undamaged mountainous friend in the front row of the auditorium, understanding every word of english that i said. not of the mathematics, though. my thesis was in enumerative combinatorics. paavo was setting them on fire with complex analysis: functions of several complex variables. i'm sorry for all the nesting; i was telling you about the night at the flamingo. bruce and i were sitting at the table, drinking with the complex analysts, and paavo the finn spotted me. he also recognized sheckley, so he started to approach our table. i couldn't think of a way to wave him away without attracting attention to him, so i nudged.
Of the soundtrack comes to a crescendo, we pull back and climb to an altitude of about two thousand feet. the islands of palau sit in the middle of an infinity of blue, shrinking to insignificance as we smash cut to the opening credits. the credits, it should be noted, are an invaluable resource to your humble chronicler. there are twenty people in the cast of this show, okay? twenty people. that's a lot of names and faces to memorize. the credits are like flash cards with a world beat soundtrack. and now they're over. because i was sitting here writing about how important the credits are, i didn't actually get to watch any of them, which means i have no idea who the hell these people are and must pick it up from context. i may resort to just making up names, knowing damn well that none of you will bother to factcheck me. unperturbed, i sally forth to meet what comes. what comes, apparently, is that little boat with all the nuggets in it. we see it approach in a really cool underwater shot -- as much crap as i give the producers when they're repetitive and tedious, i freely praise them when they can be troubled to get off their lazy asses and give us something cool to look at. the boat's riding a little high in the water, taking the gentle swells with a little more leg than it really should. i imagine that's by design. nothing brings in reality-tv ratings like boobs and vomit; the producers are waiting anxiously for somebody to lose his breakfast over the side to give the opening montage a real saving private ryan feel. no such luck. the contestants labor on at the oars while probst -- without even so much as an "ahoy" -- comes alongside. actually, he doesn't so much "come alongside" as he does steer right for the little boat, right amidships, until one of the show's army of insurance agents explodes onto the speedboat's cockpit and wrenches the wheel hard over. the speedboat heaves to with a surge, causing the contestants' boat to tip perilously. well, it's not.
Our endless summer is still giving us "good vibrations", and "we'll have fun, fun, fun" , or something like that. i guess i just date myself.what a wonderful summer it has been ! not great sailing, but certainly great weather for our "little surfer girl"! ok, let's get serious. we've had some serious sightings since our last meeting. let's see, we had yoda, the boat cat. yoda came to me, with her little bent ears, as just 3week old kitten. as a runt of the litter, she was most needy. i spent just over a week squeezing a nursing bottle into her little helpless mouth, every 2 hrs day in and day out. when i brought the little darling to shark park, she charmed the walter family into adopting her. you can now see yoda, with her new family, sailing on the big boat, about as at-home as a cat can be on a sailboat. i think we made that mono-hull into a cat-amaran! then came the dog days of august. every sunday afternoon came and went without the slightest trace of wind. the sharks and the j-24 fleets have worn out the grass in the nickel seats. then came labor day. the two days before that, the wind was blowing the hair of your head. we had great racing !!! on labor day, the whispers of wind were offset by the wakes of the power boats, enjoying their last weekend to burn up "cheap gas". finally after extreme perseverance by the race committee, a course short as it was ; was set up, and the die-hard racers attempted a race. it was a crap shoot, to say the least. being smarter than the average racer, your gw and friends joined the legions of stink potters, and went out to observe the ill-fated labor day regatta. i don't even remember who won, but there were a couple of sightings that were caught. gary schmidt and crew were part of both sightings. it seems as though terry schmidt was given directions to carry the spinnaker to the bow of the boat. on command, she was to launch it. standing on the foredeck, spinnaker in hand, we heard her say, "i've got it, now what do i do with it?" good question, terry!!! shortly after the launching of the spinnaker, the gary schmidt boat joined the rafting party, already in progress. they had some catching up to do. after about 30 minutes, gary decided it was time for a swim, and dove off the boat with his prescription sunglasses on his nose. it never fails, when you apply too much suntan lotion, your sunglasses always come off when you dive in the water.
